ABOUT

A family owned restaurant since it's beginning in 1990, the Thomaston Cafe was started by Herbert and Eleanor Peters. Herbert, a German native, began his career in Culinary Arts early. With over 50 years experience as a chef in both New York City and Maine, you might say he's a pro. Additionally, he received his certification as a culinary educator (C.C.E) and taught for over 20 years in the field, and worked for the Bangor Daily News writing restaurant reviews. He was awarded "Chef of the "Year" in 1987-1988 by his colleagues of the American Culinary Federation, Maine Chapter.

While Herbert masters the kitchen, Eleanor works the behind-the-scenes portion at the cafe. Since her past experiences include working as a baker, bank teller, counselor and full time mother to four children (as well as five grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren!) she has found her place in managing the restaurant's smooth operations and finances.

A true family restaurant of Midcoast Maine, the Thomaston Cafe has employed three generations of food and dining enthusiasts in the family. The Peters welcome you to the Thomaston Cafe for breakfast, lunch, dinner or Sunday brunch. Come in, relax and have a good meal with friends and family.
